Basketball FAQs

Does paying club fees guarantee equal playing time for my child?
Paying club fees does not guarantee equal playing time. Club fees cover uniforms, tournament entry, equipment, and other operational costs. Playing time is determined by coaches based on factors such as effort, attitude, attendance, skill level, and team needs. Our goal is always to develop players and help them grow, but competitive teams prioritize performance during games.

When are tryouts held?
Basketball tryouts are typically held mid December. Exact dates will be on our website and social media.

 

What ages can participate in Lake City Heat Basketball?

For Boys, we currently offer programs for players ages 10–17, with age groups divided based on grade level.

For Girls, we currently offer 14U (12-14) and 17U (15-17) programs. We’d love to expand our offerings as interest grows, stay tuned for more opportunities!

 

What’s the cost to join a basketball team?
Fees vary by age group and season length. Costs include uniforms, tournament entry, and training sessions. Detailed pricing is available during registration. Expected to be around $600.

How many tournaments can we expect for the season?
The season will have a minimum of 6 tournaments. Depending on the season, some additional tournaments may be added to the schedule.

Where are practices held?

We typically practice at the following locations:

  • Richardson Community Center

  • Richardson 6th Grade Academy

  • Lake City Middle School

  • Columbia High School

 

Can players participate in both school and club basketball?

Yes, we support dual participation! Just be sure to communicate schedules clearly with coaches to avoid conflicts.

When does the season start and finish?

Heats club season starts In February. Tournaments will start in March and ends around June 1st.

 

Do you offer financial assistance or scholarships?
Yes, we offer limited financial aid and sponsorship opportunities. Contact us to learn more about applying.

 

How many tournaments will my team play?
Most teams play 4–6 tournaments per season, depending on age and level.

When are tryouts held?
Volleyball tryouts will be held on August 23rd 2025 at Christ Central. Date and time will be posted on our Website and Social Media.

 

What age divisions are available?

In our first season, we’re launching with teams expected in the 13U–14U (single team), 15U, and 16U divisions. These age groups are approximate and will be finalized based on tryout turnout and player registration. We’re committed to fielding competitive, development-focused teams, and will adjust age breakdowns to best fit the talent and number of players who join us.

Our long-term vision is to offer a full range of age divisions and grow alongside the athletes in our community.

 

What’s included in club fees?
Club fees cover coaching, uniforms, tournament entry fees, gym time, and equipment. Exact pricing is shown during registration. Projected fees to be around $1,400.​

 

Where do practices take place?

Practices will be held at Richardson Community Center in Lake City FL.. Other locations are being looked at.

Can athletes play both school and club volleyball?
Absolutely! We encourage athletes to gain experience in both environments. We just ask for good communication around scheduling.

 

Are there beginner-level options?
Yes! We will offer clinics and training programs like Lake City Heat Sparks for our younger or new-to-volleyball athletes.

 

How many tournaments do club volleyball teams attend?
Typically 5–7 tournaments per season depending on the level of play.

General Inquiries

How can I pay?
We currently accept payments via CashApp, cash, or check. We are exploring more payment platforms in the future for your convenience.

 

Who should I make my check out to?
All checks should be made payable to: Lake City Heat Inc.

 

Can I pay at tryouts or practice?
Yes, in-person payments are accepted at official Lake City Heat events such as tryouts, practices, or registration sessions.

 

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes, we have payment plans in the works. Club fees are not due all at once. We understand that families need flexibility. Payment can be broken down into installments, and we’ll provide details and options during registration. If you need additional accommodations, don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly.

 

I’m interested in coaching or helping out. What should I do?
We’re always looking for passionate and responsible coaches, assistants, and volunteers! Whether you're a seasoned coach or someone eager to help, reach out to us through our contact page or speak to a club director during an event.
